Cookies and storage
What this website stores on your device. The short version is nothing at all, and this page explains exactly what that means and why there is no cookie banner.
What this website stores on your device. The short version is nothing at all, and this page explains exactly what that means and why there is no cookie banner.
Browsing this website does not place any cookies on your device, and it stores nothing in local storage or session storage either. We have tested this rather than assumed it: a normal visit to any page stores nothing at all.
There is one thing our visitor statistics do read, and it is worth being straight about it. They check whether you have set an opt-out flag called umami.disabled, which only exists if you have put it there yourself. Nothing is written, and if you have not set it there is nothing to find. See the analytics section below, including how to set it.
That is why you have not been shown a cookie banner. A banner exists to ask permission for storage that is not strictly necessary, and there is none here to ask about.
The rules here are about storing things on your device, not about the word "cookie", so this policy covers local storage and session storage too. None are used.
Two things do still happen, and it would be misleading not to mention them.
Our web server records each request: the IP address it came from, the page requested, the time, and the browser's user-agent string. These are not cookies and nothing is stored on your device, but they are a record of a visit. They are used for security and for diagnosing faults, and they are kept only briefly. The privacy notice covers them.
Our contact and home pages show a map from OpenStreetMap. Loading it tells OpenStreetMap your IP address, in the same way that visiting any website does. OpenStreetMap's map tiles set no cookies, which is why we use them rather than a commercial mapping service. If you would rather not load it at all, the addresses and coverage area are written out in text beside the map.
We count page views using Umami, a cookieless analytics tool self-hosted by Sandbanks Digital, who build and run this website for us. It is not Google Analytics, and there are no advertising pixels or social media trackers anywhere on this site.
What it records is the page you looked at, the address of the page that linked you here, your browser's language, your screen size, and the time. It sets no cookies, it stores nothing on your device, and it does not follow you to other websites or build a profile of you. Because it is hosted on our own supplier's server rather than a third party's, the figures are not shared with an advertising network.
It also respects your browser's Do Not Track setting: turn that on and it will not count you at all.
If you would rather not be counted, and you do not want to use Do Not Track, open your browser's developer console on this site and run localStorage.setItem('umami.disabled', 1). That single value stays on your device, and we will skip you from then on.
We keep a private preview copy of this website at a dev. address, which only we and people we send a link to can reach. That preview does set one cookie, to remember that your browser has been let in. It is required for access control, it lasts 90 days, and it exists only on the preview address. It is never set on this site.
Even though this site sets nothing, every browser lets you see and delete what websites have stored, and block storage in future. The settings sit under Privacy in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Blocking storage will not affect anything on this site.
If you would rather not use the site at all, call us on 01202 892002 or email [email protected]. A phone call stores nothing on your device.
If we add anything that stores data on your device, we will update this page before it goes live, and add a consent mechanism first where one is required. Last updated 17 August 2026.
